CFA: differential in the selection of a candidate

Week 3

A career in the stock market is directly linked to the country’s economic activity. Whether in times of prosperity or crisis, professionals with financial knowledge are essential to ensure investors’ success.

As this is a highly competitive and demanding universe, it is very important that the contracting party make sure that its employees are prepared to assume the responsibilities when assigned to them.

In Brazil, mandatory certificates such as the CNPI (National Investment Professional Certificate), the CPA-10 (Anbima/Anbima Professional Certification – 10), and the CPA-20 (Anbima Professional Certification – 20) assess whether the career candidate has knowledge about the stock market.

Characteristics such as dedication, resilience, proactivity and flexibility with schedules are decisive when selecting a candidate for a new vacancy. However, it is the distinction certifications that allow it to have access to more sophisticated customer niches, in addition to allowing growth not only vertically within the financial institution, but also horizontally, exercising other activities.

With international recognition by foreign investment banks in Brazil, the CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) is currently considered one of the most important certificates in the financial area and is equivalent to a postgraduate degree. The certification was created more than 50 years ago by the CFA Institute in order to establish a quality standard in the financial market industry and today it has 135,000 members in 150 countries.

In Brazil since 2003, the growth in the number of candidates for certification in the country has grown around 15% a year in the last decade, according to data from the CFA Society Brazil. The increase reinforces the trend that very soon certification will be considered not only a differential, but a mandatory requirement among contractors, even though it is not officially required by the agency responsible for the sector in the country.
